Easy No-Knead Homemade Bread (No Eggs, No Butter)

Description
This rustic no-knead bread is everything homemade baking should be—simple, affordable, and incredibly satisfying. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can create a golden, crusty loaf with a soft, airy interior. No kneading, no complicated techniques—just mix, rest, and bake. Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants fresh bread without the hassle.
Ingredients
3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp salt
1/2 tsp instant yeast
1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water
1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for flavor)
1 tsp dried herbs (optional – rosemary, thyme, or oregano)
Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Dough
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast. Add warm water and mix with a spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms. No kneading required.
Step 2: Let It Rise
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel. Let the dough rest at room temperature for 12–18 hours, until it doubles in size and becomes bubbly.
Step 3: Shape the Dough
Lightly flour a surface and gently transfer the dough. Fold it over itself a few times (no kneading), then shape it into a rough ball or oval.
Step 4: Second Rest
Place the dough on parchment paper, cover lightly, and let it rest for another 30–45 minutes while the oven heats.
Step 5: Bake
Preheat oven to 230°C (450°F).
Place a covered oven-safe pot (like a Dutch oven) inside to heat. Carefully transfer the dough (with parchment) into the hot pot, cover, and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the lid and bake for another 10–15 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
Serving Suggestions
Serve warm with olive oil and herbs
Pair with soups, salads, or pasta
Slice and toast for breakfast with honey or jam
Notes & Tips
No Dutch oven? Use a baking tray and place a small pan of water in the oven to create steam.
Stickiness is normal: Avoid adding too much flour—the wetter dough gives better texture.
Flavor boost: Add garlic powder, seeds, or olives for variation.
Storage: Keep at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
Crispier crust: Let it cool uncovered on a rack after baking.
